pearl|ite «PUR lyt», noun.
1. a mixture formed by carbon steels cooling slowly from a high temperature, normally made up of ferrite and cementite in alternate layers. Pearlite contains approximately 0.83 per cent carbon.
2. = perlite. (Cf.perlite)
